#WomensMonth is almost over, and we have one last #OKWomenYouCanCountOn story to share – meet Susan Meyer, co-owner of OK MiniMark Weenen. Susan recognises the importance of the youth as the future of our country, and aims to support and uplift young, local business people and upcoming farmers whenever she can.

Who has been a strong female role model to you?

My grandmother.

What advice do you have for any young girl who has their sights set on a career in retail/business?

You have to be prepared for the long hours. But it is the best place to learn how a business operates. It teaches you how to deal with people and working under pressure.

Best business advice you’ve been given?

Always try to see what the customer sees. Listen when they speak. After all the customer is the king.

At OK, we pride ourselves on being owners you can count on. Is there any special way you are trying to make a difference in the lives of the people in your community?

We always try to support the local businesses as well as the young upcoming farmers. Young business people are the future of our country – they need lots of support and guidance from older business people. Encourage younger people to be inventive and not afraid of failure.

Please share your favourite motivational or inspirational quote with us.

Just do it!

Do you have a charity/special cause that is close to your heart?

The local orphanage/old-age home, and my church.
