#OKWomenYouCanCountOn featuring Jo-Anne Fredericks
Jo-Anne Fredericks, manager at OK MiniMark Denneburg, has been featured in our news before when she went the extra mile for at-risk shoppers in #LockdownSA, proving she’s one of our #OKWomenYouCanCountOn. To celebrate #WomensMonth we chatted to her about what motivates her.
Who has been a strong female role model to you?
My mom was a strong woman who taught me to be independent, to work hard and to strive to be the best I can be. Her words were “always smile and be happy.”
What advice do you have for any young girl who has her sights set on a career in retail/business?
Start now, start where you are, start with fear, start with pain, start with doubt, start with your voice trembling, but start! Start where you are and with what you have … just start!
Best business advice you’ve been given?
Quality is the best business plan. If you’re not getting the results you want, there is something you don’t know. Your smile is your logo. Your personality is your business card. How you leave others feeling after an experience with you should become your trademark.
At OK, we pride ourselves on being owners you can count on. Is there any special way you are trying to make a difference in the lives of the people in your community?
If you’re looking for something we don’t have I will surely make a plan to help you find it – if at all possible.
Please share your favourite motivational or inspirational quote with us.
“Do the best you can, until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
Do you have a charity/special cause that is close to your heart?
Yes, I have – “Tannie Magda se Sopkombuis”. She’s feeding the poor and homeless people.
