1. It doesn’t have to be Insta-worthy
Children need a healthy lunchbox to keep them focused and energised throughout the school day. They don’t need a fancy snack — like carrot sticks and hummus — if all they’ll eat is a peanut butter sandwich. By all means, get creative and cut it into the shape of a star, but know that your child will be happy as long as it’s nutritious and a food they like.
2. Don’t overthink it
Nutrition is cumulative. So, every lunchbox doesn’t have to be the perfect meal. The odd packet of chips or sweet treat is totally fine as long as your child eats a variety of food throughout the week.
3. Use a formula
You can save yourself plenty of time and keep things interesting by following a basic formula for a balanced meal. For example: protein + carb + fruit/veg + a treat. Make a list of all the different options for each category, which you can then mix and match.
