*Lemon sour ingredients:
1 cup | Water |
1 cup | Sugar |
1 cup | Freshly squeezed lemon juice |
¼ cup | Freshly squeezed lime juice |
Zest from 1 lime (optional) |
* Lemon sour method:
1 | Combine water and sugar in a pot. |
2 | If you're using it, add the zested lime at this point. |
3 | Heat until boiling. Then lower the heat to a simmer and slowly stir with a spoon until the sugar is dissolved. |
4 | Remove the pot from the heat. Add freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice to the mixture. |
5 | Pour the lemon sour mix into a container using a strainer to avoid getting pulp or zest in. |
6 | Place the mixture in the fridge. |
Cocktail Method:
1 | Rim a chilled cocktail glass with sugar. |
2 | In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour the Captain Morgan Spiced Gold Rum, orange liqueur, and lemon sour. |
3 | Shake well and strain into the rimmed glass. |
4 | Garnish with an orange twist. |
5 | Cheers! |
Pro-tip:
It is important to use fine sugar when rimming a glass. The granulated sugar you use every day in the kitchen does not stick as well because the crystals are larger.
